West Campus/Kirtas Tour

December 3rd, 2009, West Campus

In conjunction with the Office of Digital Assets and Infrastructure, Digital Coffee is hosting a demonstration tour of the Kirtas scanners that were recently donated to ODAI and housed at West Campus.

Kirtas Technologies very generously has donated three APT BookScan 2400RA robotic book scanners to ODAI.  The book scanners will be used collaboratively to digitize books from across the Yale community in the planned Yale West Campus Digitization and Media Conversion Center.

The scanners were originally used for the Yale University Library Mass Digitization Project. Kirtas is a pioneer in high-quality digitization, known for patented automatic book scanners, innovative software, and sophisticated services that provide cost-effective, efficient solutions.

The tour will be on Thursday December 3rd at 9:30am at West Campus.  Arrangements have been made for a shuttle van which can accommodate up to 22 people and will pick people up on campus and then bring them back around 11:30am. Alternately, people can drive on their own to West Campus and meet up with the tour group there.

If you are interested in attending the Kirtas demonstration please send an e-mail to john.ffrench@yale.edu so that we can get a head count. If you would like a seat on the shuttle please let John know so he can reserve a space (seating is limited to 22 people). If you are driving on your own please follow the directions at the end of this e-mail. (we still need to know who is planning to drive so we can notify West Campus Security)

We hope to see many of you on the 3rd. In the coming days we will also be announcing the date for our next Digital Coffee meeting presentation on the topic of Rapid Imaging projects occurring on campus.

Thank you,
DIGITAL COFFEE GROUP
